Disabling comments in WordPress can be done globally for all future posts or for specific posts or pages. Here’s how to do both:

1. Disable Comments Globally for Future Posts:

This method allows you to disable comments on all future posts, but it will not affect existing posts.

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings > Discussion.
  2. Under the “Default article settings” section, uncheck the box that says “Allow people to post comments on new articles”.
  3. Click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.

2. Disable Comments on Specific Posts or Pages:

If you want to disable comments on specific posts or pages, follow these steps:

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, go to Posts or Pages, depending on which you want to disable comments for.
  2. Hover over the title of the post or page for which you want to disable comments.
  3. Click on “Quick Edit” that appears below the title.
  4. Uncheck the “Allow Comments” box.
  5. Click on “Update” to save the changes.

3. Disable Comments on All Existing Posts or Pages:

If you want to disable comments on all existing posts or pages, you can do that too:

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, go to Posts or Pages, depending on which you want to disable comments for.
  2. Click on the checkbox at the top to select all posts or pages.
  3. From the “Bulk Actions” dropdown, select “Edit” and then click “Apply”.
  4. In the bulk edit box that appears, under “Comments”, select “Do not allow”.
  5. Click on “Update” to save the changes.

Please note that if you want to completely remove the comments section from your site, including existing comments, you might need to use a plugin or modify your theme’s files.

How to disable comments in wordpress using plugins

If you want to use a plugin to disable comments, there are several plugins that can help with this, including “Disable Comments” and “WP-Disable Comments”. Here’s how to use the Disable Comments plugin:

1. Install and Activate the Plugin:

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New.
  2. In the search box, type “Disable Comments” and hit Enter.
  3. In the search results, find the “Disable Comments” plugin and click “Install Now”.
  4. After the plugin is installed, click “Activate”.

2. Configure the Plugin:

  1. Once the plugin is activated, go to Settings > Disable Comments.
  2. You’ll see multiple options for disabling comments. You can disable comments everywhere on your site, or on specific post types only.
  3. If you choose to disable comments everywhere, no comments will be allowed anywhere on your site and all existing comments will be hidden.
  4. If you want to disable comments for specific post types only, select the post types where you want to disable comments.
  5. Click “Save Changes”.

Remember, using this plugin will not delete any existing comments on your site, it will only hide them. If you decide to uninstall the plugin, all hidden comments will be visible again. To delete comments permanently, you would need to do that from the Comments screen in the WordPress dashboard.
